Guard Mode and Lock Me Out are built to be hard to undo, and Anchor has no accounts, so we can't unlock a phone remotely or send you a code. Read the situations below in order.

1. Which situation are you in?

  • A Lock Me Out session. It ends when its timer ends and cannot be ended early. The phone dialer and an Emergency call button stay reachable during the session.
  • Guard Mode with a timer. It turns off by itself at the timer's end date, which the unlock screen shows. Changing the clock on your phone doesn't change the remaining time.
  • Guard Mode with unlock methods and a timer. Complete one of your unlock methods, or wait for the timer.
  • An older Guard Mode setup with no timer. Setups created before a timer was required have no automatic end. Continue to step 2.

2. If waiting is not an option

These steps erase or remove Anchor and its data. Anchor keeps nothing in the cloud, so a backup file you exported earlier (Settings → Backup & Restore) is the only way to get your profiles back.

  • If "Lock settings" was off in your Guard Mode setup: open your phone's Settings → Security (or Security & privacy) → Device admin apps, deactivate Anchor, then uninstall it. Menu names differ between phone makers.
  • Safe Mode: restart your phone in Safe Mode (usually: hold the power button, then touch and hold "Power off" or "Restart" until "Safe mode" appears; the steps differ by phone maker). Safe Mode turns off apps you installed, including Anchor's Accessibility Service, so Settings is no longer blocked. Then follow the Device admin apps steps above and uninstall Anchor. This isn't available or identical on every phone.
  • Otherwise, a factory reset removes Anchor along with everything else on the phone. Back up your photos and files first.
  • Advanced users can try removing Anchor from a computer with ADB. Android may refuse while Anchor is a device administrator, so this isn't guaranteed to work.
